STUDY SMART NOT STUDY HARD

Many students tend to study hard rather than study smart because they believe that they will

get better grades if they study hard, but this is not the case. It does not always work. You must

study smart so that you can apply and remember it in your daily life. Here are few tips that I

can give you to study smart.

  1. Find out how long your concentration lasts.

  • Everyone had different timing, some people can learn for 3 hours straight, but some

people can’t.
  • You can generate an average time if your concentration time-inconsistent.

  1. Study in chunks

  • You need to avoid long study sessions and just study on your calculated

concentration time.
  • Between this chunk of study time, take a short break. You can start

with 5 minutes first
  • and adjust it later.

  1. SQRRR METHOD

S- SURVEY
Q- QUESTION
R- READ
R-RECITE
R- REVIEW

This method is much more efficient for reading textbooks. We don’t want to

spend ages reading each part of the textbook.

Survey = Resist the temptation to read the book and instead go through

a chapter and note the headings, sub-headings, and other outstanding features.

Question = Create a question about the chapter's content.

This can assist you in identifying what you DO NOT KNOW and avoiding what you

DO KNOW.

Read = Go back and look for the answers to your questions. It will help you to

avoid passenger reading, which is reading without engaging in the study

material.

Recite =  Try to retrieve from memory what you have learned as if you were telling

someone else about the information. Use your own words.

Review = When you get to the end of the passage, go over it again in your own words,

repeating what the point of the passage was.

  1. Create a study time and place.

  • Create an area that is free of distraction and is relaxing.

  • Set study time based on your concentration times.

  • Listen to music without words.
